Painted pine mirror, American Empire style

Mirror made of painted pine, in the American Empire style.  Height: 57 cm. Width 33 cm.

Such mirrors were common among the Pennsylvania Germans, according to Howard Pain, “The Heritage of Upper Canadian Furniture“. Toronto: Van Nostrand Reinhold, 1978, p. 510.

The top panel is a depiction of the Shoemaker House in Bridgeport Ontario rendered by reverse painting on glass.
